if this vacation was a snapchat filter

i had three weeks off of work in june, which was a little blah,
but i got to go home for a week!

i mostly went on runs (which was good cause the abundance of horseflies actually made me run),
went to the beach, and watched hgtv with my mom.
i also cleaned out my old room and that was buckets of fun.
i'm a winner! some of these are for softball & tennis, but most of them are for honor roll,
perfect attendance, and writing. so now you know how cool i was.
when i was young and angsty, i loved this spot in my little town.
i accidentally took this on a run one night, but i'm a little obsessed.
my step dad gave me this old camera of his, and one day i'll have enough money to restore it.
i can't get over how classy it is.
and i leave you with the artistic brilliance of 2.5 year old Erin:

jack

I miss this crazy pup.

He's my best friend.
He just doesn't know it yet.

He's a pro at giving hugs, but
I'm still trying to teach him how to snuggle,
and not eat my hair.

I can't wait to see my spoiled boy!
I'll even let him eat my hair.

beachin

I went home last month.
And I decided I want to make home videos like crazy
for this next bit of my life.
I decided this after I left with very little video.

So, all we have is some weirdness.
But it will be embarrassing and awesome in 10 years,
and that's all I can ask for.

Lucy, I'm home!

Well, Utah-home.  I spent two weeks in Florida-home and it was great.  I needed so much to do absolutely nothing for a while.  And you best believe I did just that.

Remember Louie?  He's Jack now.  I was a little bummed by the name change, but when you're not there taking care of the thing, you really earn no say.  And he's so cute, I can't help but love all of him any way--even his name.  When I wasn't in bed, I was hanging out with this guy.  He's just about 7 months old and a giant.

A giant that is still a puppy and will not sit still.  But, he gives the best hugs and is adoring of his family, so we'll take that.  He still loves riding in the car and after this ride he learned that sometimes the car takes him to the beach!  And that is too much fun.

Both times I sat with him for a ride, I ended up completely squished by the end.  He'll come over to my side and pin my head against the seat.  And alternately pant out the window and eat my hair.  Awesome.

I love him.  Anyway.  Here are some other things that happened:

outside a local church.

Christmas crack.  not that addicting.

my favorite place.  I'm a nerd.

seed pod nativity.

Christmas outfit.

oh hey beach.  it may have reached 80 degrees one day.

AWESOME.

fried mac&cheese from BJ's.  so beautiful and delicious.

Now, back to school.  Yay.

southern exposure

No, not the kind on Beck St.

I'm starting a "series," or whatever those fancy bloggers call it, to highlight all the things I love about the South.  I'm kind of frustrated right now because I really want to get back to Utah and enjoy a little dry air time before school starts.  For now, this will help me appreciate where I am, and later it will help tide me over until I get home.

Here we go:

FL storms are the best.
When it's not loud and adrenaline pumping, it's absolutely beautiful,
especially on the long drives through the woods.

The only thing that makes it better is when Mom buys me an Express Lane refill.
Hers is filled to the brim with ice and showered with Dr. P,
while my handful of ice rests in a bath of the same syrupy goodness.
